Below is a simplified step-by-step guide to help you successfully begin your academic journey with KIU.
Step 1: Eligibility Check
Submit your academic certificates and supporting documents to KIU for evaluation. Our admissions team will carefully assess your qualifications to confirm your eligibility for your selected programme.
KIU coordinates with Sri Lankan government authorities to complete the required background screening process. This process usually takes approximately 30–45 working days and results in the issuance of a recommendation letter.
Step 2: Visa Documentation
Once the recommendation letter is received, KIU will guide you in preparing and submitting the required visa documents. These typically include:
· Copy of passport
· Formal request letter to the Department of Immigration and Emigration
· Additional supporting documents (if required)
Step 3: Entry Visa Approval
· After document processing and approval, the relevant Sri Lankan Embassy or High Commission in your country will issue your entry visa, allowing you to legally travel to Sri Lanka.
Step 4: Resident Visa Application
· After arriving in Sri Lanka, you must apply for a Resident Visa, which is mandatory for student enrollment. Please note that studying on a tourist visa is not permitted under Sri Lankan immigration regulations.
