Professor Wasantha Seneviratne currently holds the position of Chair Professor of Public and International Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Additionally, she serves as the Director of the Centre for the Study of Human Rights, a research institute affiliated with the University of Colombo. With nearly 28 years of experience in teaching, researching, and publishing in International Law, Human Rights Law, and Humanitarian Law, she imparts her expertise in Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, and Human Rights Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various law teaching institutions in Sri Lanka.Â

Mrs. Kanchanamala Geekiyanage is a dedicated legal scholar with a strong background in law and profound teaching experience, with a vision to promote academic excellence and innovative legal education. Her extensive academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) with a Second class (Upper division) and a Master of Law (LL.M.) from the University of Colombo in Company Law, Labour Law and Law relating to Banking. Presently she is reading for her PhD. She has been a studious yet, multi-talented and multi-tasking person all her life.Â

Having been awarded the Best Overall Student of 1997 title by her alma mater – Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5, and becoming Island 2nd in 1999 ALs, she kept topping the batch in both the Faculty of Law and the Sri Lanka Law College exams. She has been awarded the University Scholarship, Ajita Parathalingam Memorial Prize and Gate Mudliyer Edmond Peiris Prize by the University of Colombo for her academic excellence. She is also an Attorney-at-Law with 20 years of experience with a practise of law and conveyancing, in the chambers of eminent Counsel as well as on her own. Moreover she has completed CIMA – UK exams in 2003 which bear testimony to her multidisciplinary knowledge and passion to study. Her corporate career includes serving as an Executive at the National Development Bank and as a Panel Lawyer of DFCC Bank and DFCC Vardhana Bank.
Her academic journey began in 2006/7 as a Visiting Lecturer of the Department of Commercial Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. Since then she has lectured at General Sir John Kotalawala Defence University (KDU), APIIT – Faculty of Law and Horizon City Campus from time to time. She has been working as a Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering of SLIIT, Malabe over a decade and at SLIIT International, Colombo 2 since it’s inception. Presently she is an Associate Lecturer of the Curtin University, Bentley, Western Australia. She has also served as a Guest Lecturer in Labour Law for Diplomas in Labour Law and Industrial Relations at National Institute of Labour Studies and in MSc in Logistics at SLIIT. She has thus been imparting legal knowledge through lecturing for the last 20 years in various universities and institutions.
Kanchanamala has strong leadership and mentoring abilities, expertise in curriculum development and legal education, excellent communication and negotiation skills, proven success in enhancing student engagement and academic performance.
Outside the professional purview, she is also a Published Poet, a Freelance Journalist, a Recorded Lyricist, a TV presenter and a Public speaker.
