About the Event
The Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering at KIU University proudly presents the Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge, held as part of the much-anticipated Bot Arena 2025 — a flagship event under KIU’s Future Fest 2025 Open Day. This workshop-style competition is designed to push the boundaries of student creativity, sharpen technical problem-solving skills, and celebrate the spirit of innovation in computing.
Whether you are a seasoned coder or just beginning your programming journey, the Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge offers the perfect platform to test your abilities, compete with peers, and demonstrate your potential under real-world conditions.
What is Bot Arena 2025?
Bot Arena 2025 is where Tech, Taste & Thrill Collide. Hosted on the KIU Premises in Bahitheramulla, this grand open-day event brings together students, tech enthusiasts, industry professionals, and the general public for an unforgettable celebration of technology and innovation.
The event features two exciting main competitions:
- Mini Hackathon – Code, compete, and conquer. Participants will show off their problem-solving skills and creativity by tackling real debugging challenges within a limited time frame.
- Robotics – Witness mind-blowing robotic action as bots battle it out in an electrifying arena showdown.
Bot Arena 2025 is more than just a competition — it is an open invitation to join the arena, challenge yourself, and be part of the future.
About the Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge
The Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge is a focused, time-bound programming competition that tests participants’ ability to identify, analyze, and resolve errors in code. Participants will be presented with a set of pre-written programs containing deliberate bugs across a range of difficulty levels. The challenge is to debug as many programs as possible within the allotted session time, using logical reasoning, programming knowledge, and creative problem-solving.
This format is ideal for students who want to experience the intensity of a real hackathon environment without requiring extended preparation. It levels the playing field, rewarding sharp thinking and technical accuracy above all else.
Why Participate?
Participating in the Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge offers a range of benefits for students at all skill levels:
- Strengthen Programming Fundamentals – Debugging is one of the most essential and sought-after skills in software development. Practicing under competitive conditions accelerates learning and builds confidence.
- Experience Hackathon Culture – Get a taste of the fast-paced, problem-solving culture that defines the global tech industry.
- Network with Peers and Faculty – Connect with fellow students, academic staff, and industry visitors attending KIU’s Open Day and Career Fair.
- Recognition and Achievement – Stand out among your peers and earn recognition from the Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering.
- Be Part of Something Bigger – As part of Future Fest 2025, participants will be surrounded by career fair opportunities, live performances, and inspiring industry presentations throughout the day.
Objectives
The primary objective of the Mini Hackathon Debugging Challenge is to improve students’ programming skills with enjoyment. KIU’s Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering Circle (FOCSEC) believes that learning is most effective when it is engaging, competitive, and community-driven. This event reflects that philosophy — creating an environment where technical growth and fun go hand in hand.
