Master of Philosophy in Nursing [MPhil (Nursing)] is designed to develop the capacity of graduate nurses with advanced knowledge and skills in nursing; to conduct a high quality nursing research; to continue post graduate studies at higher levels; and to enhance the capacities of graduates to function as nursing academics, nursing administrators and managers, advanced practice nurses, and nurse researchers in the field of nursing. Completion of this level could lead to continued doctoral studies at SLQF Level 12.

The Master of Philosophy program is a highly flexible course that includes independent, supervised research and a steppingstone to transition to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is awarded based on a thesis prepared under supervision. The candidate should present the findings of an original scholarly inquiry that demonstrates the candidate’s knowledge of the research topic and the related discipline, as judged by a panel of experts. |
