The Master of Nursing Education at KIU is a meticulously designed programme aimed at empowering nurses to pursue education-related positions in nursing education. The program mainly focuses on developing teaching and curriculum development skills, enabling nurses to train and mentor future generations of nurses or provide continuing education for current nursing staff. This program is accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Year One Semester 01
NUP1101 – Integral Nursing (Holistic Nursing & Global Nursing) – 3 Credits
NUP1202 – Theoretical and Philosophical Foundations of Nursing – 6 Credits
NUP1203 – Research Methods and Ethics in Nursing Research – 6 Credits
Year One Semester 02
NUP1104 – Statistics – 3 Credits
(Elective – I) NUP1206 – Educational Processes in Nursing – 6 Credits
(Elective – II) NUP1207 – Project in Nursing Education – 6 Credits
i) being General Nurses, Nursing Sisters, Chief Nursing Officers, the successful completion of the SLQF Level 6 in the Bachelor of Science Honours in Nursing in any recognized university; or
(ii) the successful completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing or SLQF Level 5 in Bachelor of Nursing in any recognized university and successful completion of 30 credit passes in the Nursing Field. as prescribed in the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF), and shall adhere to the condition that, the name of qualification shall not have any qualifier or specifications attached to it.
Graduates of the Master of Nursing Education are equipped to lead, innovate, and elevate the standards of nursing practice and education across clinical and academic settings. The program prepares professionals who can shape the next generation of nurses, advancing clinical expertise, and contributing to healthcare research and policy.
